AVENUES OF THE MIND

Learning is not only our duty but our joy.  We believe learning requires diligence and, just as importantly, joy.

Teaching does not equal learning.  Inspiration and enthusiasm are the roads to effective learning.  All of our products inspire students to learn.  Our products compliment the rigors of a classical education while inspiring students to educate themselves with the assistance of parents and teachers.

We (Jacquelyn Bolles and Moira Novack) started Avenues of the Mind to help us achieve three goals: To start our own business, to help our community and to change the world. Yes, we think big. Why not?

Jacquelyn has three children and Moira has one. We both absolutely love being parents and have some solutions to the problems that we all face when trying to raise a family in our very modern world. As facilitators of the ‘How to Become Love and Logic Parent’, we have helped many families create more joy filled environments. We believe parenting should be fun, at least most of time. If you are not having fun being a parent, give us a call and we will share some ideas that we think can change your mind. Homeschooling is near and dear to our hearts. We are both passionate about education and have created some products that we think make homeschooling more fun and a little easier. We believe well educated children can and will make our world a better one. Our products are unique. However, I urge you to look at them and see for yourself what I am talking about. See our Historical Timelines page and Latin Root Flashcards page. Initially the products we made were simply to teach our own children, but after loaning them out to everyone, we realized that they could serve many other parents .We decided to print them and put them on the market. We have been shocked by the interest and success of our simple products. They are successful because all parents want the same thing. We all want our children to want to learn. We all want our children to be inspired, challenged and motivated. We found that when our own children learned something easily and had fun they became self motivated. All our products keep that in mind.

Products are one thing, but we know homeschool parents need a community of support. Homeschool parents don't get stickers that say: My Child is an Honor Student at XXX School, they have no report cards to show grandparents, no Student of the Month certificates etc. And most of time none of us care, however, wouldn't it be fun (yes, fun does seem to be one of our main concerns in life) if we could "show off" once in a while. We decided to create an online community where we could congratulate some of our homeschooled student’s achievements. The achievements don't have to be academic. Let's honor the values and character traits we talk so much about with our children. Write in and tell us about your child's science fair project, sport efforts, personal achievements. Send us the information and photograph and we will showcase some of the best on our site in the Homeschool Stars page.
